Paris Fashions, 1912 1925
Paris Fashions from 1912-1925.
Music, "J'ai deux amours" sung by Josephine Baker.
The images are hand-painted prints of designer clothes called "Pochoirs." They were original hand-colored prints that were done for fashion magazines to showcase designer's clothes in Paris. A bit like "Vogue" today. The works are charming and wonderful and evoke a simpler time. The clothes are really ravishing. The designers of the time, like Poiret, and later Chanel, were revolutionizing the way women's clothes were designed and worn; from the corsets of the 19th century, to loose-fitting clothes like the clothes women are now so used to wearing. These illustrations are really gorgeous. The music is Josephine Baker singing her hit song "J'ai deux amours" (I have two loves - my country and "Paree!")
